Snack/Beverage Machines Slated for Metro-North Railroad Stations

December 23rd, 2009

New York, December 23, 2009 -- Metro-North Railroad -- a commuter line serving New York City's northern suburbs -- is considering the addition of 74 snack and beverage vending machines at 29 stations next year, via a revenue-sharing contract with Answer Vending Inc. (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

The Journal News reported that Coca Cola Enterprises and M&M/Mars would have initial, exclusive rights to provide the beverages and snacks. Selections would include candy and soft drinks, as well as such "better-for-you" products as fruit juices and granola bars.

Most Metro-North stations would get two vending machines, while the recently opened Yankee Stadium stop in the Bronx would get 12.

Under a recent pilot program, two stations in the system had vending machines.
